Manti wrestlers take fourth place at Region 12 meet

RICHFIELD—Amid fierce competition, the Manti Templars managed to place fourth as a team at the region competition held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9 in Richfield.
Justin Bradley and Barton Olson led the team with their first place finishes. Bradley, a junior at 119 pounds, and Olson, a sophomore at 103 pounds, have been consistent this year, with several wins under their belts from earlier tournaments.
Bradley received the honor of being named Wrestler of the Tournament at region competition. He received this same recognition at the Panguitch Invitational in December. Both Bradley and Olson are favored to dominate state competition.
Strong finishes from Manti’s senior lineup also boosted the team. Colter Lund finished second in the 145-pound weight division of. Two other seniors, Colton Larsen and Jeff Swenson, placed among the top six competitors in their respective weight divisions. Additionally, junior Matt Olson took third place in the aggressive 135-pound weight category.
Strong individual performances at region qualified 19 Manti wrestlers for state competition. With these exceptional results, Manti looks forward to competing at the state level. Competition begins on Thursday, Feb. 14 and will continue through Saturday at Utah Valley State College in Orem.
