North Sanpete wrestlers perform well at region, carry second-place ranking into state tournament

PRICE—The North Sanpete wrestling team attended Region 8 competition, which was held last weekend in Price. As expected, the Hawks wrestled well and came away with several individual wins.
The 215-pound Dylan Clark (47-2) improved on his nearly perfect record by taking the region title in his weight division. In addition, three juniors claimed first place victories at region: Cody Irons (39-4), Cheyne Christensen (40-12), and Keaton Cheney (38-12).
A host of Hawk wrestlers placed second at region, including Kolton Cheney (37-5), Timmy Brewer (30-20), Teejay Clawson (37-13), Jared Watts (28-12), Reggie Clawson (32-8), and Jordan Walker (34-18).
The impressive display of skill and effort from the Hawks at region competition should be indicative of how they will perform at the state level. In fact, the Utah Wrestling Coaches Association (UWCA) ranked North Sanpete second among all 3A teams.
Only Wasatch, the northern wrestling powerhouse, outranks North Sanpete.
The Hawks will compete at state this weekend. State competition will be held in the McKay Events Center at Utah Valley State College in Orem.
