MANTI—The Manti American Legion Auxiliary, Unit No. 31, recently awarded cash prizes and certificates to students from Manti Elementary, Ephraim Middle and Manti High School for winning essays in the Americanism Essay Contest.
American Legion Auxiliary chairwoman Joyce Alder and co-chairwoman Shirley Nielson presented the prizes. This year’s topic was “America—Home of the Brave, Land that I Love.”
Winners were the following:
Manti High School: First place, Christian Williardson; second place, Kimilyn Poulson; third place, Andrew Boylan; and honorable mention, Taylor Thayne.
Ephraim Middle School: First place, Kate Murdoch; second place, Dreyson Willardson; third place, Nicole Bradley; and honorable mention, Trey Gunderson.
Manti Elementary School: first place, Zackary Roberts; second place, Shayla Green; third place, Christina Peterson; and honorable mention, Guillermo Frutos.
First place winners will compete at the state level.
First place winners from the state competition will go to the division competition, and first place winners in division will go to the national competition. The national competition grand prize is $500 and a citation plaque.
