AXTELL—The Bastian family of Axtell will be guest performers at a concert at Temple Square in Salt Lake City this week.
On Saturday, Aug. 2, Gay Bastian and her children—Jessica, Heidi, Mauresa, Benjamin, Kelvin and Kalyce—will perform at the Assembly Hall on Temple Square as part of the “Families Making Music” concert series.
The group will share their love of music through piano and vocal offerings. Even a tune or two from the accordion will be part of the program.
The performance begins at 7 p.m. and is free to the public.
The group is led by mother Gay, the wife of Bevan Bastian. She recieved a Bachelor of Music degree from Utah State University, a Masters of Music from the University of Utah, and did post- graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. All six of her children will perform with her.
Jessica, 20, has appeared as a guest soloist with the Utah Symphony, American Fork Symphony, Nachtmusik Chamber Orchestra and the Hillsdale College Orchestra.
Heidi, 19, has been a guest soloist with the American Fork Symphony and the Nachtmusik Chamber Orchestra.
Mauresa, 16, has soloed with the Utah Valley Symphony and the Nachtmusik Chamber Orchestra.
Benjamin, 12, has studied for nine years. He has performed with his family several times in concert and has placed in local and regional Reflections contests for songs he has composed.
Kelvin and Kalyce, twins age 10, take music lessons from their mother and have won the regional Farm Bureau Talent Find Contest.
