EPHRAIM—Ephraim has a new law office, Snow and Associates, started by a new kind of attorney.
Her name is Marla Snow, a farmer’s daughter from Canada. She spent 17 years as a nurse, raised a family and started law school after her youngest was out of the house.
She says her legal career is benefiting from her life on the farm and lessons from her parents.
“When you grow up on a farm you don’t just work 9 to 5, you see a need and you take care of it,” Snow said. “The legal field is like that too, and it has been a passion since the time I was a little girl.”
Snow had a law office in Spanish Fork before coming to Ephraim.
The Spanish Fork office took in a large number of Sanpete County clients, which got her thinking.
“It would be easier for a few attorneys to commute to Sanpete rather than a lot of people to commute to Spanish Fork,” Snow said.
Opening a law office in Sanpete County makes Snow feel like she is coming home.
“I love the area. I like the uncomplicated, straightforward people,” Snow said.
Marla is an advocate for the family. She has a client-centered practice and works hard to incorporate collaborative law, which is when attorneys for all parties agree to assist in resolving the conflict using cooperative techniques rather than going to court.
“You can turn anything into a fight,” Snow says. “But a fight is not always best for the family.
Snow says she is most concerned with the impact of divorce proceedings on families, especially children, and makes every attempt to make the process as painless as possible.
Snow says she is committed to not just having attorneys commute to Sanpete County but to finding the right people to fit the community and its needs.
The Snow and Associates office in Ephraim includes attorney Niel Lund from Manti, former Sanpete County Clerk Kristine Frischknecht as a legal secretary, and paralegal George Gonzales, who will be available to provide Spanish translation. Other members of the legal team splitting time between Spanish Fork and Ephraim are attorney Eric Paulson, from Washington state; paralegal Becky Curtis, a paralegal with family in Mt. Pleasant and Fairview; and legal secretaries Shusti Dalllin and Katie Rasmussen.
“Marla’s legal expertise will be a wonderful asset to Sanpete County,” said Frischknecht. “Having worked in her Spanish Fork office, it is apparent that she runs a very efficient and client-friendly operation. Marla adds a personal zeal that delivers a reassuring touch to her clients through communication and thorough study of her cases. The citizens here will find a dedicated asset in Marla Snow and her legal team,” Frischknecht said.
