EPHRAIM—Three Sanpete Schools will perform tonight with the internationally renowned brass ensemble, Dallas Brass.
Gunnison Valley High School, Gunnison Valley Middle School and Ephraim Middle School will take part in a day long clinic, on Jan. 9, put on by the ensemble.
In a concert that evening, starting at 7 p.m. at Snow College’s Eccles building, featuring the Dallas Brass, the students will be able to perform in the concert finale with the ensemble.
The ensemble will be performing its showcase “American Musical Journey,” which presents the chronological evolution of American Music from colonial time classics to present day hip hop and rock.
This performance and clinic are part of Dallas Brass’s Music in the Schools Project, which has been in full swing for 11 years.
Each year the ensemble travels all over the United States and puts on the clinics and concerts to help reach young musicians and their local communities.
According the Dallas Brass’s website every performance is arranged so it can be enjoyed by the youngest child, rebellious teen, stressed out mom, overworked dad or partially deaf grandparent
Michael Levine, the ensemble’s founder and director wrote on the website, “A Dallas Brass concert is intended for the entire family. Our ideal audience has a range in ages from 5 to 95. Our goal is to entertain and enrich by playing great music, while showing our audience how much we enjoy what we do.”
Besides its performance in Ephraim the group has scheduled clinics in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Florida, New Hampshire and Idaho for this coming year. The ensemble is also performing this weekend at Kingsbury Hall on the University of Utah campus.
Each member of the ensemble has a degree in music performance, and has performed with numerous ensembles, bands and orchestras throughout the world.
Tickets for the evening concert will $10. They can be purchased over the phone or in person at Gunnison Valley High School, 528-7256, or Ephraim Middle School, 283-4037.
A limited amount of tickets will be available at the doors at the concert hall before the performance.
