To use the Archives:

After you register and log into the site, click the “Click to Enter” button to proceed to the archives. Once clicked a pop-up window should appear ready for you to search.

To Search:

To begin searching, type in your search term in the Search box. You can begin your search there, or choose to refine your search by selecting a type of search, and the dates to search. For example, entering the term “Manti Wreck” (Without parenthesis) we get these results:

Articles are sorted by relevancy called Score. Hovering the mouse over the article gives you a preview of the PDF page. You can click either the box or the PDF page to download the page.

To View:

When downloaded, the words that were used in the search will be highlighted for your easy access. All articles will download to Adobe Acrobat Reader, so can be viewed in the same way as other PDF files. When done viewing the article and to return to the previous search results, click Return to Search Results, located in the upper left hand corner of the screen. This will return you to your search.

Search Refinement:

To refine the search, “Manti wreck” may be typed in the search box again, but say the article was printed within the past few months, so this is where the Dates to Search feature comes in.

Now all results will be limited to printings of the paper within the last two months.

If you have found the article you wanted, but wish to look at other pages from the same paper. In the upper right hand corner there is the page select option for the issue you are looking at. There are two ways to use it.

You can use either the pull-down menu and select the next page you wish to go to, or simply hit the Forward or Back button to easily get to the provisos or next page.

There are a few more options also if the search needs to be refined even more. You can pull these up by clicking the Show Options button on the left-side menu

Once clicked, a sub bar will appear under the search bar

Now you can refine the search to stories only appearing on the front page, to public notices and classified ads. Another option is sorting the results by hits, Issue, etc.
